The Great Possibilities of Cuba

The "Great Possibilities of Cuba" was the theme of the Cuban Pavillion in the 1939 World's Fair. Cuba has been off the radar screen of many USA citizens since 1960. For over 40 years, except during President Carter's Administration, travel to Cuba by USA citizens and permanent residents has been severely limited. Even today, Cuba is listed as a country hostile to the United States.

However, things appear to be changing. Licensed sales of food and medicine by USA individuals and companies have been permitted since 2000 when President Clinton signed the Farm Bill in October, 2000. Licensed travel for humanitarian efforts has also increased significantly. Cooperation in fields such as hurricane monitoring and HIV/AIDS (see Cuba AIDS Project) has allowed frequent sincere people to people interaction between ordinary Cuban and USA citizens. Raul Castro takes over the helm of Cuba in February 2008. A new USA President may greatly modify, with the help of Congress, relations with Cuba.
